Tajikistan, located in Central Asia, is officially known as the Republic of Tajikistan and it is a landlocked country. The economy of the country is based on different but limited resources. Agriculture and livestock constitute important economic sectors. Crops cultivated in the country include cotton, wheat, barley, fruit, vegetables and mulberry trees. Livestock raised are dairy cattle, goats, karakul sheep and yaks. Tajikistan has various natural resources but in limited quantities, including brown coal, zinc, tungsten, petroleum, uranium, mercury, lead, silver, gold and antimony. Another resource of this kind in the country is hydropower. |
